DracoB.com‘s coverage of DB & Family at the Opening of LeRoy Henderson’s exhibition at the June Kelly Gallery in Soho
.
The New York Times Holland Cotter on LeyRoy Henderson:
“In the more recent pictures […] …………….. it is clear that the past is being revisited..[…]…… the condition of war has not changed nor has the sharpness of Mr. Henderson’s eye, evident in one beautiful, architecturally conceived black-and-white picture after another. Street photography and monumentality would seem to be mutually contradictory, but in his art they coexist.”

The Work of Photographer LeyRoy Henderson
“Making direct and instructive links between past and present, Mr. Henderson alternates shots of anti-war protests from the Vietnam era with counterparts from today’s Iraq war. Among the earlier images is one of a mass demonstration in New York City in 1967 and there are others in Washington from 1973 — letting Mr. Henderson suggest vociferous public pressure over several years. With certain shots — protesters swarming Wall Street in 1969; a placard reading: ‘Give me one good reason I should fight in Vietnam. Arm black men to fight for freedom in America’ — he suggests the connections among war, money and race.” From article “Art in Review: LeRoy Henderson” New York Times by Holland Cotter
